Contact me for details before registering. If cost is a barrier for anyone, get in touch to discuss sliding scale or work trade options. If you would like to donate to the scholarship fund, you can venmo @arise-botanicals, include “scholarship fund” in the memo. Thank you!

Participants will create and take home their own 4oz tincture, made with locally harvested herbs! All ages welcome. 13 and under are free, with a registered grown-up. Registration is required as capacity is set at 15.

Herbal tinctures are concentrated extracts made with fresh or dried plants. We will be working with the most common tincture making method of maceration in alcohol, while discussing and sampling alcohol-free variations. The discussion will also include an overview of the percolation method and the science of tincture making (chemistry and botany, yay!) along with storytelling and dropping into deep appreciation for the plants in our ecosystem.

All participants will be invited to chop, measure, weigh and mix ingredients for their take-home tincture. Together we will be touching, smelling, tasting and discussing the specific properties of the herb(s) used in the tincture demos. Informational handouts will be available. Bring yourself, a writing utensil and a curious mind. Herbal tea will be shared as we all settle in together.

Tincture making has been by far my most requested workshop topic. This past January the Crafting Herbal Remedies class at SCC filled up fast and we had a great time! I’ve also offered this workshop in partnership with Pioneers Park Nature Center and the Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism. I strive to hold a relaxed and engaging learning space where questions and all levels of experience and welcome. I hope you can join me for this workshop. I’m excited to get nerdy together!

Accessibility information: There are several parking spaced located just in front of Pepe’s Bistro (and shared with another business). Ample on-street parking is also available nearby. There is a low curb from these parking spaces onto the sidewalk. An accessible curb-cut is a short distance away, on the corner of 11th and B St. There are no stairs to get into Pepe’s. Chairs and shared table space will be available for all participants. We will spend the majority of the class time seated and stationary, with a 10minute break in the middle. You are welcomed to take movement and fresh air breaks outside. Bring your own snacks and water etc. if needed. There is no public restroom, but Pepe will grant access to the employee bathroom (not ADA accessible) for class attendees. This is a small space and capacity is limited to 15 registrants and a few of my invited guests. Please let me know if you are planning to bring children and/or if you have any accommodation requests. **For the comfort of myself and other participants, I ask that all attendees refrain from wearing strongly scented body products, thank you.

Covid policy: This will be an indoor event and masking will not be required, but is always encouraged. Hand sanitizer will be available and all participants will be asked to either sanitize or wash with soap and water before the hands-on work with knives, cutting boards etc. If you are feeling ill, I thank you for staying home and I can share all the handouts and your own 4oz tincture along with follow-up information so you don’t miss out.
